Yesterday I painted the background ocean and sky in various blues. Upon doing that the optical illusion that the lighthouse was leaning was hard to escape. I know it is just the angle at which the original photo was taken. I know the lighthouse is not leaning. The horizon line is horizontal. The left side of the lighthouse is vertical. But the optical illusion needs to be dealt with when I start painting the lighthouse itself. I will have to make the base on the left side larger and taper it some toward the top.
