Underpainting

I have roughed out a new lavender field painting. I basically covered the canvas with a midtone color for each item, roughly painting it in. I will go back and define each area, adding darks and lights and giving depth of color. As the painting develops there will be contrast of colors and a sense of depth in the painting. Below you will see the first step - my underpainting.
